Restored for wearing, not for a display case.

Antique jewelry — Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco — calls for different techniques than modern repair work. Old gold alloys are softer, filigree is fragile, and original construction methods (hand-cut prongs, hand-engraved surfaces) cannot be replicated with modern shortcuts. We stabilize fragile elements, clean without stripping the patina, retip worn prongs in period-appropriate style, and make the piece wearable again while preserving its original character.

SHOULD I CLEAN
AN ANTIQUE PIECE BEFORE BRINGING IT IN?

No — bring it as-is. Improper cleaning can strip the patina that gives antique pieces their look and value. We assess the best cleaning method once we can see the metal type and condition.

CAN ALL ANTIQUE PIECES
BE MADE WEARABLE?

Most can — some may need creative structural support (a hidden backing, a new finding, or a converted wearing style). Occasionally a piece is too fragile to wear safely; in that case we restore it to preserved condition and discuss display or replication options.

WILL RESTORATION
REDUCE THE VALUE?

Careful, appropriate restoration by a skilled jeweler typically does not reduce value and often enhances it by making the piece presentable. Over-cleaning, modern solder lines, or replacing hand-cut elements with machine parts can reduce value — we avoid all of these.
